Chocolate Chip Cookies ♡ Heaven in a Handful

There are many great things that come from my kitchen, but cookies are one of the treats my family asks for most frequently. I've been inspired to make things at home and from scratch no matter how hard the task. Some fail tremendously, but- some knock you into a delicious food coma.

The secret ingredient here is, of course- love.

A spoon full of sugar and a sprinkle of chocolate- that's just about "heaven" in a handful.

It is always a good idea to try new recipes, make your own ingredients and substitute any time you can. It may not always be pretty but it is so rewarding when it comes our right. My favorite quote from Thomas Edison states, "necessity is the mother of invention". So really- you don't need much to create a recipe that will keep people on their toes and begging for more.

This recipe is definitely one of the best and I've used it throughout my entire baking career. The margarine creates a moist and gooey bite while keeping the raw dough intact for perfect dough balls. It's no secret, however, all of my cookie recipes have been inspired, in one way or another, from my good old friend Betty.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 Cup Margarine

1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
½ Cup Granulated Sugar
1 ½ Tablespoons Vanilla
3 Large Eggs
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
2 ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour
1 (12 ounce) Bag Mini Chocolate Chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, mix together margarine, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Blend with beaters or a stand mixer, until sugars are completely smooth and well mixed. Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, continuing to blend until mixed. Add salt, baking powder, baking soda, and flour, one cup at a time. Stir until all ingredients are completely combined and batter is creamy and thick. Gently add one bag of chocolate chips, folding in with a wooden spoon until well distributed. Grease cookie sheets and line with a 2 inch scoop of thick cookie dough about 2 inches apart from one another. Place cookie sheet in oven and bake for 9 minutes. Remove from oven and place each cookie on a cookie sheet for at least 5 minutes to cool.

(About 4 1/2 dozen cookies)
